Dr Philippe Legaré

Professional Overview

With more than 30 years of experience in foot orthotics and biomechanics, Dr Philippe Legaré has become a reference in developing innovative, patient-centred solutions to improve mobility and overall well-being. After graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine (now Temple University) in 1996, he founded his practice in Trois-Rivières and has continually pushed the boundaries of podiatric care.

Passionate about blending hands-on clinical care with technological innovation, he focuses on designing treatments tailored to each patient by combining clinical precision with a deep understanding of how posture impacts health. His work centers on improving mobility, restoring active lifestyles, and enhancing quality of life through movement and proper alignment.

Education & Professional Background

Academic Background

Doctor of Podiatric Medicine
Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine (now Temple University) – 1996

Professional Experience

Dr Legaré founded his podiatric practice in Trois-Rivières after graduating in 1996 and has spent more than three decades advancing clinical approaches to foot biomechanics and orthotic care.

In 2002 he became a co-owner of a specialized orthotic laboratory, leading the transition from artisanal orthotic production to advanced 3D orthotic technology and pioneering methods for highly precise 3D foot scanning.

He is also the owner of one of the largest podiatric clinics in Quebec, a 6 000 ft² facility staffed by six full-time podiatrists. Under his leadership the clinic integrates advanced technologies including high-resolution ultrasound, shockwave therapy, laser therapy and regenerative medicine techniques such as PRP and prolotherapy.

Through this multidisciplinary approach, the clinic focuses on restoring patients’ active lifestyles and improving long-term mobility outcomes.

Expertise in Foot Biomechanics / Medical Technology

Dr Legaré’s expertise lies in combining clinical precision with technological innovation in the field of foot biomechanics and orthotic treatment.

He played a key role in transitioning orthotic manufacturing from traditional artisanal methods to advanced 3D orthotic technology. His work includes pioneering approaches to high-precision 3D foot scanning, allowing clinicians to capture foot geometry accurately and design orthotics that support natural movement and postural alignment.

His clinical practice integrates multiple technologies that support comprehensive podiatric care, including diagnostic imaging, regenerative medicine techniques and orthotic interventions tailored to each patient’s biomechanics.

Role in Clinical Leadership and Innovation

As the owner and clinical leader of a major podiatric clinic in Quebec, Dr Legaré oversees the integration of innovative technologies and multidisciplinary treatment approaches within daily clinical practice.

His leadership focuses on combining advanced medical technologies with personalized patient care to improve mobility, prevent injuries and support long-term musculoskeletal health.

Through his work in orthotic laboratory development, clinical practice and technology adoption, he continues to contribute to the evolution of modern podiatric treatment.

Thought Leadership & Industry Contribution

Dr Legaré has delivered scientific presentations across North America and is recognized for sharing his expertise with clinicians and healthcare professionals.

His presentations have been featured at:

  • Ontario Society of Chiropody conferences (Toronto 2024 and 2025)
  • PFOLA international meetings in Vancouver (2005) and Chicago (2006)
  • Continuing-education programs for medical doctors and podiatrists

Committed to education and mentorship, he taught for seven years in the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine program at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and taught medical students at the Université de Montréal about the locomotor system.

He also mentors young podiatrists and regularly welcomes students for clinical rotations in his clinic. In addition, he visits podiatric clinics across Quebec and Ontario every month to share his knowledge and collaborate with fellow practitioners.

Approach & Professional Philosophy

Dr Legaré believes in combining clinical expertise, innovation and collaboration to advance patient care. His work is driven by a commitment to improving mobility and quality of life through precise biomechanical understanding and personalized treatment strategies.

He values collaboration among clinicians and continuous learning, regularly engaging with practitioners and students to share knowledge and explore new approaches to podiatric care.

Athlete and Clinician

A dedicated runner and triathlete, Dr Legaré has completed numerous half-marathons and marathons as well as the Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant (2014) and the Ironman 140.6 California (2022), which qualified him for the 2023 USA Triathlon National Championships.

His experience as an endurance athlete strengthens his understanding of biomechanics, performance and injury prevention, allowing him to design orthotic and rehabilitation programs tailored to the needs of athletes.
